Bethesda: DOOM 4 has NOT been cancelled

Game publisher Bethesda Softworks has this week moved quickly to counter rumors suggesting that its id-developed shooter DOOM 4 has been cancelled.

“DOOM 4 isn’t cancelled,” said Bethesda boss Pete Hines via a Twitter post. “When we’re ready to talk about it and show it off, we’ll let everyone know.”

Initial rumors regarding the game’s apparent shelving first arose when Kotaku last year cited an unnamed source in claiming DOOM 4 had been “postponed indefinitely” in light of poor critical reception surrounding id’s long-awaited Rage.

At that time, Bethesda moved to insist that “no title under development at id has been postponed—indefinitely or otherwise.”
