PSVita enjoying high software and hardware sales
Following on from Sony’s enthusiasm regarding the initial retail traction of its PlayStation Vita (PSV) outside of Japan, GfK Chart-Track has revealed impressive sales of PSV software in the United Kingdom.
According to the chart specialist, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Golden Abyss leads the All-Formats chart, closely followed by EA’s soccer simulator FIFA Football—both of which constitute half of all PSV game sales since the console’s launch.
Of the 23 titles that accompanied the PlayStation Vita’s long-awaited arrival, a number of others made the top 40 listing, such as WipEout 2048 in 11th place, Ridge Racer in 28th, Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition in 30th, and Everybody’s Golf in 32nd.
In terms of other major All Formats releases to hit the chart, EA’s multi-platform shooter Syndicate landed in fifth, while Wii exclusive The Last Story debuted at 15th, and Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition found its way into 17th.
Meanwhile, it would appear most PSV buyers are not being moved by the 3G variant of Sony’s hardware, which bears out insofar as 79 percent of console sales reportedly cover the Wi-Fi model.
