Doctor Who on PSV first with Unreal Engine 3
Fans of British science-fiction show Doctor Who will be thrilled to hear that BBC Worldwide and developer Supermassive Games are bringing the heroic Time Lord to Sony’s new PlayStation Vita (PSV).
And, the upcoming Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock also promises to deliver quite the package where quality is concerned, thanks to it being the first PSV title to use Epic Games’ award-winning Unreal Engine 3 technology.
Beyond the lure of sexy graphics via Unreal Engine 3, The Eternity Clock will also include two-player coop gameplay and 3D camera support. And it’s also worth noting that Supermassive has a fine pedigree, having crafted Tumble and content for LittleBigPlanet 2.
“Our aim for ‘Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock’ is to match it as closely as possible in aesthetics, tone and sound to the television series, and also to achieve a new level of quality on Sony’s outstanding platforms,” commented Jonathan Amor, chief technology officer at Supermassive Games.
Although little is currently known about The Eternity Clock, its original storyline has been penned in collaboration with BBC Wales and the game will include motion-capture performances and voice work from both Matt Smith (The Doctor) and Alex Kingston (River Song).
“Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will immerse gamers in the universe of Doctor Who, allowing them to take on the role of the Doctor and River Song as they travel across time and space to save the Earth,” the studio outlined in an official statement.
“Gamers must learn to master the complexities of time travel with exceptional time-based game play, changes made in one time will impact another creating multiple possibilities and challenging players to solve puzzles across the centuries.”
Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will launch in March on PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, and Games for Windows.
Sorry Sony, ou took too long to give a rlseaee date. I at one time had a preorder fully paid for of my Vita wifi edition but not knowing the the rlseaee date, my patience grew weary and I eventually caved in getting a 3DS (after its price cut and oot 3d) and a Asus Tranformer w/Keyboard dock. Perfectly fine for gaming portability now. Don’t worry Sony, I’ll buy your Vita eventually down the road hoping to buy one moreso after it get’s cracked by the homebrew community though just like the PSP was !VN:R_U [1.9.10_1130]Please log in to rate this commentVN:R_U [1.9.10_1130](from 9 votes)
